A Lapen Road, or Macadam Penetration Layer (Lapis Penetrasi Makadam), is a type of asphalt pavement constructed using a spraying system. This method is widely applied in areas with relatively low traffic volumes and has become a primary reference for infrastructure development in villages, particularly those funded by the Village Fund (Dana Desa).
The Lapen layer consists of a primary aggregate and a uniform-graded locking aggregate, bound together by asphalt sprayed over the primary layer. Compaction is performed layer by layer. When used as a surface course, a final seal of asphalt and cover aggregate is applied after the locking aggregate is compacted to ensure durability and a smooth finish.
Technical Standards and Quality Control
Modern standards for Lapen construction have been revised based on laboratory and field tests to improve longevity. Key requirements include:
- Fine Aggregate Quality: Cover aggregates must undergo sand equivalent testing.
- Crushed Faces: Coarse aggregates must meet specific fracture requirements (bidang pecah).
- Aggregate Shape: Monitoring the cubical shape of stones to prevent flakiness.
- Asphalt Adhesion: Ensuring the aggregate bonds effectively with the bitumen to prevent stripping.
Utilization of the RAB Template
To assist village governments in implementing these technical standards, we provide a Budget Plan (RAB) for Lapen Roads in MS Office Excel format. This document allows for easy adjustment of material volumes and local unit prices (SSH) according to regional regulations and village authority.
