The establishment of the SK LPM Desa (Village Community Empowerment Institution Decree) is legally mandated by Article 6 of Permendagri Number 18 of 2018 concerning Village Community Institutions and Village Customary Institutions.
The LPM Desa serves as a strategic partner outside the Village Government, established by a Village Head Decree to mobilize community participation. Its primary goal is to enhance public service delivery and ensure integrated development through community initiative and the traditional spirit of mutual cooperation (gotong royong).
Duties of the LPM
As a key village institution, the LPM is tasked with several vital responsibilities:
- Aspiration Mapping: Absorbing community aspirations regarding village development planning.
- Community Mobilization: Encouraging active participation in development projects through self-help and mutual cooperation.
- Empowerment: Implementing programs to empower the village community across various sectors.
Core Functions of the LPM
The functions of the LPM extend beyond simple administration, focusing on community resilience and development quality:
- Communication Hub: Accommodating and channeling public aspirations to the government.
- Social Unity: Instilling and nurturing a sense of unity and national cohesion among residents.
